ABOUT

« Through the assembly of geometric forms, his works are warm and spontaneous. »

Ben Arpea is a French-Italian artist born in Paris in 1989. Coming from a family of art collectors and dealers, Ben Arpea grew up in a rich artistic universe, and it is therefore natural that he is passionate about art.

Self-taught, he started out in design by creating lamps and handmade objects from basic materials like concrete before turning to drawing and painting.

His first series of abstract paintings composed of colored geometric forms are inspired by modern painters, such as Miro, whom he particularly admires.

Ben Arpea paints on jute and linen canvases, allowing a less smooth and conventional support, accentuating the raw characteristic of his artistic universe. Through the assembly of geometric forms, his works are warm and spontaneous.

His second series evolves towards a semi-figurative style, through simplified forms but inspired by reality, his works represent graphic landscapes including architectural elements.

Finally, in his third series, Ben Arpéa worked on an interactive digital medium where the viewer becomes an essential element of the work since it reacts to movement and sound.
